Material type of valve sealing ring

There are two main types of valve sealing ring materials, metallic and non-metallic. Common materials and their use conditions for valve sealing rings are as follows.
1. Polytetrafluoroethylene: mainly used for glove valves, gate valves, ball valves, etc. with temperature t≤232°C and nominal pressure PN≤6.4 MPa.
2. Synthetic rubber: The comprehensive performance of oil resistance, temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and other properties are better than that of natural rubber. Generally, the use temperature of synthetic rubber is t ≤ 150℃, and the natural rubber is t ≤ 60℃. Rubber is used to seal valves such as shut-off valves, gate valves, diaphragm valves, butterfly valves, check valves, clamp valves and other valves with nominal pressure PN ≤ 1MPa.
3. Nylon: It has the characteristics of small friction coefficient and good corrosion resistance. Nylon is mostly used for ball valves, shut-off valves, etc. with temperature t ≤ 90℃ and nominal pressure PN ≤ 32MPa.
4. Cast iron: used for gate valves, stop valves, plug valves, etc. for temperature t ≤ 100℃, nominal pressure PN ≤ 1.6MPa, gas and oil.
5. Copper alloy: Commonly used materials include 6-6-3 tin bronze and 58-2-2 manganese brass. Copper alloy has good wear resistance and is suitable for water and steam with temperature t ≤ 200℃ and nominal pressure PN ≤ 1.6MPa. It is often used in gate valves, stop valves, check valves, plug valves, etc.
6. Chrome stainless steel: Commonly used brands include 2Cr13 and 3Cr13, which have been tempered and have good corrosion resistance. Commonly used on valves with temperature t ≤ 450℃ and nominal pressure PN ≤ 32MPa.
7. Chromium nickel-titanium stainless steel: The commonly used grade is 1Cr18Ni9ti, which has good corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance and heat resistance. It is suitable for steam, nitric acid and other media with temperature t ≤ 600℃ and nominal pressure PN ≤ 6.4MPa, and is used for stop valves, ball valves, etc.
8. Nitriding steel: The commonly used grade is 38CrMoAlA. After carburizing, it has good corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance. Commonly used in power station gate valves with temperature t ≤ 540℃ and nominal pressure PN ≤ 10MPa.
9. Boron-permeable: The sealing surface is directly processed from the valve body or valve flap body material, and then the surface treatment is performed. The sealing surface has good wear resistance. Used for power station sewage valves.
